North Fork: A visit to The Little Red Barn

We recently ventured out to Long Island and got to explore a hidden gem in the North Fork area, called The Little Red Barn. A lovely 40-acre private farm located in Riverhead, NY. Where they offer horseback riding lessons, summer camps, birthday parties, and private family/group tours in which we took an interest.

We enjoyed a 1-hour private tour around the farm with the owner Kate, who was very friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful in sharing information on other family-friendly places we could explore while in the area. The kids got the chance to pet baby bunnies, kid goats; they met Luna, the 6yr old friendly goat, and Star her famous farm Pig. They selected a horse saddle and wrap of their choice, learned how to groom a pony, and ended the tour with a fun and exciting pony ride.

Kate had suggested we bring lunch, a nice bottle of wine, and snacks so we would enjoy it on the farm after the tour. So, we spent that last hour enjoying a quiet lunch under a tree-shaded picnic area, taking in the beautiful and peaceful atmosphere. We strolled the beautiful grounds, took pictures, and the kids got some time run-around and play.

Overall, it was such a pleasurable experience! A no-fuss, fun, and relaxed activity for both the kids as well as us! Thank you, Kate and The Little Red Barn for such a memorable experience!
