It’s time to deck the halls! From cozy winter cottage vibes to colorful festive flair, there’s plenty of ways to ensure your holiday decor reflects your personal style. There are so many fun holiday decorating trends coming out this year that it can be hard to choose just one!
So when my friends at Wayfair asked to chat, I was thrilled to share my tips,
advice and inspiration for The Holiday Edit.
The Wayfair Holiday Trend Q & A with Juanita of Willow & East
Wayfair: As holiday trends change throughout the years, what are some core pieces that you consider decor staples?
Juanita: I think that regardless of trends, seasonal greenery such as garlands, wreaths, and/or festive arrangements are a staple in any holiday décor. It's the ultimate signifier that the holidays are here.
Wayfair: What is your favorite holiday decorating tradition?
Juanita: Every year on Black Friday we take a trip up a local tree farm in search for our family tree and the excitement of bringing it home and finally decorating it, is one of my favorite holiday decorating traditions.
Wayfair: Are there any holiday decor trends that are really standing out to you right now?
Juanita: I’m loving all the organic, natural tone holiday décor pieces I am seeing. I think there’s something so calming and cozy about a soft wintry palette.
Wayfair: What’s your advice to those looking to incorporate trendier items with classic holiday decor pieces?
Juanita: I think adding a few trendier pieces into your classic holiday décor is fine, however you should look for pieces that enhance the overall décor style.
Wayfair: Does your decor follow a theme? What do you gravitate towards when shopping for new pieces to add to your collection while maintaining the theme?
Juanita: When it comes to my holiday décor, I tend to gravitate towards a more neutral color theme, I love incorporating wood tones, blacks, whites, off whites, and sometimes a bit of gold. My kids are both animal lovers, and when it comes to our tree it has felt natural to stick to what we call “Our Woodland” inspired tree. Overtime we have collected woodsy type animal ornaments and even made some pine cone ornaments of our own, so when I’m shopping for new pieces, I like to look for those with a natural look and feel.
Wayfair: Do you decorate the exterior of your home in the same way each year, or do you like to mix it up?
Juanita: I like to keep the exterior pretty much the same each year and as consistent to the interior decor style as possible. :)
